Discussion on options and directions can assists people to clarify what motivates them next.
Covid has created confusion for some and fear in others about their original direction. For other it has clarified what they what next.
Original University choices  may have been for interest only, and did not have a career path that was evident.

At CareerWise I enjoy working with students on this junction in life, which is clear to many,  but not everyone.

Self Directed Search Assessment:

The Self Directed Search assessment is popular in other countries like Canada where many Career Practitioners use this tool, it is popular with people of all ages and stages of career. I have used this tool with students at Secondary Schools, and Mature Career Changers.

The Self-Directed Search® (SDS®) is a career interest inventory that asks questions about your aspirations, activities, skills, and interests in different jobs. From the responses, the SDS produces your personal three-letter Summary Code, which you can use to find occupations and fields of study that match well with your personality.

The SDS is based on John Holland’s theory that both people and working environments can be classified according to six basic types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. These personality types are known together as RIASEC.

More than 35 million people worldwide have used the SDS to discover the careers and fields of study that are likely to satisfy them.

The SDS is a standardised assessment, and is distributed by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research.
